It is the role of this practice to provide a caring environment that is safe, welcoming and peaceful for all patients. 

 

We value the rights of individuals and will attempt at all times to treat patients promptly, courteously and with consideration of individual patient needs.

 

We request that patients in turn, treat staff and other patients with respect and not engage in inappropriate behavior which may cause harm or distress to themselves or others.

 

 

The outcome of unacceptable behaviour will result in a termination of your privilege's to be a patient at Ascot Vale Health Group. 

This may extend to your family in some cases also. 

We will arrange for your medical file to be transferred to a clinic of your choice.

The Police will also be called if illegal activity has occurred.

 

Detailed below is the code of behaviour for patients, their families / friends and members of the public, to adhere to:

 

  • Occupational violence and aggression is an OH&S hazard.
  • Workers of the Ascot Vale Health Group have the right to be treated with respect.
  • Zero tolerance of occupational aggression and violence is vital in providing a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Aggressive and violent behaviour toward any worker or other patient is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

 

Occupational violence and aggression is any incident in which a worker is threatened, abused or assaulted in circumstances arising out of, or during the course of, their work and includes:

 

  • Threats or other intimidating behaviours that causes a person to believe they are in danger of being physically attacked.  It may involve an actual or implied threat to safety, health or wellbeing.
  • Verbal (sworn at), physical or psychological abuse including threats of self harm
  • Physical attack, such as pushing, shoving, tripping, grabbing, hitting, pinching, scratching, kicking, biting, spitting or any other type of direct physical contact.
  • Aggravated assault, such as attacking with a weapon (knives etc) or any other type of weapon (thrown object, furniture etc)
  • Sexual harassment and sexual assault
